After years of success in the mining, power station, security and Casino industries, AME System’s activConsole is now entering into the world of aviation. Recently AME System was contracted by the Sensis Corporation to assist in the design and manufacturing of a new wave of operator consoles for the Air Traffic Control industry. Under the New Towers Replacement and Refurbishment Program a total of 26 Air Traffic Control Towers are to be modernized and upgraded to combat the ever increasing levels of air traffic.
The ActivConsole range is now one of AME System’s fastest growing products. With the ability to custom design their work stations to suit nearly any environment and with ergonomics being the key design aspect for every product the activConsole is fast becoming the product of choice for consumers. Recently five specially designed units were supplied to Airservices Australia’s new Airsevices Learning Academy in Melbourne and with the latest technology and hardware in aviation air traffic control being supplied by Sensis, the project is really starting to take shape. The main objective of the project is to move from manual procedures into automated operations. Each console can be electrically adjusted for height at the touch of a button and the touch screen displays have been mounted to heavy duty articulated arms for maximum flexibility. In doing this each operator has the opportunity to adjust the console to achieve their perfect sitting or standing position without compromising their sight lines out in to the airfield or on screen displays. This advancement in operations will also help in the fight against glare and lighting issues that the operators have to battle with on a constant basis. These consoles will put them into the prime position quickly and effortlessly so as to maintain high quality visibility at all times.
This is another step forward for the activConsole as far as AME System is concerned, and they are sure that this will lead into even further advancements in their product range and designs over the coming years.
